Phones and technology
Our cellular services are GSM-based. This is essentially
the only technology used in Europe and covering the
majority of the globe. We offer a selection of phone
models as well as SIM cards alone if you wish to use
your own GSM phone or BlackBerry device.
Free roaming and coverage
There are no roaming fees with our service. Our rates are all inclusive and there are no additional charges or fees. Calls are a fraction of the cost of those made with Canadian or US carriers. In total, our service provides coverage in over 140 countries worldwide.
Your cellular number
Your global cellular number is a designated North American
toll free number that you can travel with to all the covered
destinations. You will never need to swap SIM cards or
change numbers while traveling with this service.
Keeping your US or Canadian number when traveling
To receive calls to your US or Canadian number, when traveling, simply forward your calls to the toll-free number assigned.
How can the rates be so low?
Much like any other cellular service used when traveling overseas,
we rely on the infrastructure of local carriers in every destination
country. Roaming charges are directly related to agreements
between these local carriers and the carrier that provides you
with your cellular phone. By implementing advanced technology
that we refer to as “transparent callback”, SIMphoneE’s
services allow different and improved agreements, resulting
in the elimination of roaming charges in most travel destinations.
What is “transparent callback”?
Transparent callback technology reverses the direction of all outbound calls to allow you free roaming service. This process is almost unnoticeable to you as you make the call. In fact, transparent callback technology requires no extra effort on your part. You would place the outbound call in the same way as you would with any other service – by simply dialing the number or by selecting it from the contact list.
SIMphoneE vs. Native local SIM cards?
The service offered by SIMphoneE has many advantages over native
cards. Native cards will provide service with a local number
in only one country. With SIMphoneE, you can roam to other countries
and always travel with the same number, without having to swap
cards or top up prepaid credit. You will also enjoy an extended
“Home Zone,” which offers free and unlimited inbound
calls and preferred rates for outbound calls, as well as additional
features such as voicemail and call forwarding. Moreover, you
will benefit from a flexible centralized billing and reporting
service.
Making calls
Receiving calls is exactly the same as with any other service
– the phone rings and you answer. Outbound calls are also
very similar – you dial the destination number and press
“send”. The “transparent callback” then
disconnects the call and calls you right back as if this were
an incoming call. As soon as you answer the incoming call, you
are connected to your destination.
Voice mail, text messaging and other features
Additional features included in your service are advanced voice mail system, call forwarding, text messaging (free to receive), and free text messaging through our online interface.
Keeping your address book
If you are currently using a GSM cell phone, you can synchronize your
current local SIM card with your new global phone. Alternatively,
you can synchronize your local phone with a computer desktop
application (i.e. Outlook) and then synchronize your application
with the new global phone. We will be happy to provide more
detailed information to assist you with this process.
Traveling with your BlackBerry
We are proud to offer a unique solution that will allow you to travel with your BlackBerry and benefit from both our dramatically reduced rates and your existing international data roaming plan to access emails and internet. In fact, our solution will allow you to have two SIM cards (and two numbers) in your BlackBerry at the same time without the need to physically swap cards.
Reporting, Billing and Payments
It is our goal to keep you satisfied with the quality of the service as well as your end-result savings.
At the end of each month you will receive an invoice and a detailed report of your corporate travelers’ overseas cellular usage. This report will include the itemized call logs as well as a cost comparison to your current costs and an underlined bottom-line savings figure. Reports could be provided in hard or soft copy and tailored to your TEM (Telecom Expense Management) system.
Our invoicing is flexible to your specific requirements and can be provided per user, per department, per company, as needed. This invoice is payable by check, credit card or wire.
Customer service
We are particularly sensitive to the critical role that the cell phone takes in your business, especially when used for communicating while traveling. We offer a high level of customer support with quick escalation options for issues that require immediate network level resolution. From our experience, there are very few cases in which support is required. When support is needed, we are proud to say that most issues are resolved instantaneously or within 24 hours at most.
